Regina had set the little elf on the fireplace mantle because she had read about other parents doing that and decided to give it a try.
"He watches you all the time, so you have to be sure to be good, Henry," Regina said. "Otherwise, Santa will know."
Henry looked warily up at the elf. “Okay, Mommy. I promise I’ll be good.”
Regina continued to move the elf around to different parts of the house. One time, she had set the elf on the kitchen counter, and when Henry started to climb up to the counter to steal a cookie, he caught sight of the elf and quickly got back down.
"I’m sorry, Santa!" he said. "I’ll be good from now on."
Sure enough, Henry was better behaved than he had ever been from the time Regina brought out the elf until Christmas when she put the elf away. She had made sure that Henry had gotten everything on his Christmas list.
"That elf is really strict," Henry said. "But I was good."
Regina smiled and gave Henry a kiss on the cheek. “Yes, you were. Merry Christmas, Henry.”
Regina - All I have is Henry. And I am not about to lose him, cause he is everything. …We will be home soon, my little prince.
